I've been reading this book that has the most beautiful title that I know of any book,
Silence of the Heart.
I looked at some reviews on Amazon, someone described it as Eckhart Tolle on steroids, hehe. I don't know if that is true but ok.
I find that the attitude, the subjects and the language in this book sometimes remind me of Datre.
A couple of the methods Robert Adams is recommending is, first, Self-inquiry.
When you have a thought coming up, ask yourself: "Who am 'I' that these thoughts are coming to?"
"Who is this 'I' that are having these thoughts?"
Then wait for an answer.
If thoughts come up again, continue Self-inquiry.
This seems to be a method for all kinds of thinking, to change the focus from the mind on to the I.
As Robert says, "abide in the I".
Then there's the I AM meditation, that you can combine with Self-inquiry.
After you inquired and awaited an answer, if the mind have become still, start the I AM meditation, which goes like this
- breath in
- say "I"
- breath out
- say "AM"
- inhale
- I
- exhale
- AM
and continue that.
If a thought comes up during this process, you start Self-inquiry again. Then when the mind is still, continue with I AM meditation.

It's Just A Ride
I think Bill Hicks was on to something, but perhaps missed a couple of things.
The "us" part, I asked Datre once. They were very much pointing out, you don't have to be part 'of' something. The YOU that you are is complete in and of itself.
And the other one I think might be 'Respect'. Respect even those that kill Kennedy and Lennon, don't re-act, but allow. That may be a tricky one.
One might as well say it was the world that killed Kennedy and Lennon, like the world offers all other kinds of misery, hidden in worldly pleasure.
